In Shadows of Poe, the player is transported to the unsettling and mysterious universe of Edgar Allan Poe's stories. In this non-linear interactive narrative text adventure game, the player takes on the role of a sharp-eyed investigator, tasked with uncovering dark secrets hidden around every corner and turn of every page.

As you explore enigmatic settings and interact with disturbing characters, the player's choices shape the narrative, leading to multiple possible endings. Shadows of Poe takes the player through the iconic tales “The Black Cat”, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, among others, immersing him in an immersive environment where his ability to make decisions will be put to the test, as he tries to uncover the truth behind the mysteries and horrors that take over each story.

Each decision can bring the player closer to a deserved outcome or drag him further into the abyss of the unknown. Shadows of Poe offers an immersive experience that combines Poe's literary richness with modern interactivity, providing a journey into the macabre and the mystical, where secrets that perhaps should remain hidden come to the surface.

Here, every choice matters. Every shadow hides a story. Ready to face Poe's mysteries?

I really liked the art, the music, and the writing—very immersive.

The typewriter effect ruined the immersion, though. :/ I read much faster than the words appeared, so I was forced to sit and wait a lot. Also, staring at all the moving letters for so long made me feel a little dizzy. In the end, I got frustrated and stopped. The effect would be ok on a few special passages, but using it in every one was too much.

I know this is a prototype, so I hope you take this as useful feedback—I'm not trying to be mean. If you end up removing that effect please reply and I will gladly give the game another try because I really did like all the other elements! :)

Ah, thank you so much for the feedback!! I just saw it so apologies for my delay.

This is actually a prototype for my Master thesis, your input on the typewriter effect is greatly appreciated! I see where you're coming from, in a later version I will add the effect only to some key moments.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my game and leave a comment
